Some Days Are Dark

This was written in mid 2003, soon after we received the definite diagnosis of Multiple Myeloma.

somewhere there must be a lifeline
salvation from death in this quiet
relief from the stress all around
i'll wait under covers for daybreak
and pray sunrise finds me whole

One crystalline moment in a lifetime of fears, in a stunning example of God's perfect Grace - a strong hand reached out to pull me back to the glory of life. After so long in the cold and the dark, the future looked bright and serene. Frome never knowing quite where to root, the past shown forth with a soft golden glow. So very thankful to Christ, who 's the King of my life, for showing me the Prince of my heart. He calls me his queen. The reality is, though, that this common girl seeks neither castle nor crown but this better life with family all around.

The dark, painful days are definitely followed by light. Moms, don't give up! After walking this "terminal" path for over 13 years, I know the ups and downs are terrible. They stink and hurt. Cling to your children, partner, family and friends. Most of all, cling to the One who made you. He knows your pain and he's preparing a home for you. Your job, our job, is to stay with our children as long as we can.

Thanks for letting me share.
