I actually wrote this in response to a friend who had held my hand through a very dark time one night. As we (I) cried my way through those clinging briers and yawning caverns and wandered lost in confusion and angst, her voice blended with God's as I kept hearing, " I'm so sorry this is happening this is a fallen world. Everything will be ok, this is for the best, lean on me I'm here I'm always here. I love you I Love You Always.
Through those many, long hours as my heart was breaking and my soul was crying out to my Maker to try to find the sense in it all and the Mom/Wife/Woman in me was sobbing about every single problem that could possibly arise, she was there~ He was there. I was able to hang up the phone (all 3 times we talked in two days) and open my Bible to find Peace~or open my heart and sing Praise to the God Who Knows Us So Well: Counselor~Prince of Peace~Almighty God~Everlasting Father. I love this name for Him: The Great I AM. The Alpha and the Omega, the Beginining and the End.
The Bible doesn't specifically talk about the day he created friends. I am positive it was during the time he was working on seraphim an cherabim however.
I know this because certain friends (we all know the ones) are that special blend of human heart, Godly love, angelic patience and wisdom of the ages. Somehow, He was able to add just the right touch of toughness so they can help us get through the awful, terrible times and the correct mix of softness so that they understand unspilled tears in moments of joy. They have embracing hugs and steel backbones of determination. These friends are the first to send up the flare of prayer to our Lord when a heart is broken, loved to overflowing or beat it's last on earth.
I thank the Lord every day for sending me the angel called you.

DeDe,
This is exactly how I feel about my friend Kitty. She is the answer to my prayer I prayed in 1988 to God to send me a friend. Thank God for blessing us so abundantly with friends like her and your Carol. The world would be such a better place if more people would understand what it really means to be a friend others can lean on.
Carol
